History of St Chads Community Project
St Chad’s Community Project was established in 1990 as a response to a Faith in the city report that was published which stated that unemployment was in the mid 30’s percent in the Bensham area, there was growing concern that members of the local Bensham population had diminishing and limited access to resources in relation to childcare, recreational and educational facilities.
A member of the local clergy set up the Project to offer a support system to enable parents to have the opportunities to build a better life for themselves and their families. They did this by offering affordable childcare, educational courses and helping support individuals with employability skills.
This Project was the first of its kind in the area. Putting families at the heart of what they do.
In the early 2000’s the Project expanded further moving into Liddell Terrace and developing the Family Support service.
